What Are Discord Server Boosts?

Discord server boosts are a Discord feature that lets members support a server by allocating boosts to it. When a server reaches certain boost thresholds, it unlocks progressively higher server perk tiers: Level 1 at 2 boosts, Level 2 at 7 boosts, and Level 3 at 14 boosts.

Boost perks apply to the whole server community, not to individual member accounts. They include higher audio bitrate, better screen-sharing quality, more custom emoji slots, a custom vanity URL, and larger file upload limits.

What perks does each Discord boost level unlock?

Discord awards server perks based on the number of active boosts a server has. The table below summarizes the standard Discord boost level benefits.

  • Level 1 (2 boosts): 128 Kbps audio bitrate, animated server icon, 50 custom emoji slots, 25 MB uploads.
  • Level 2 (7 boosts): 256 Kbps audio bitrate, 1080p 60fps screen sharing, 150 emoji slots, 50 MB uploads, server banner.
  • Level 3 (14 boosts): 384 Kbps audio bitrate, 250 emoji slots, 100 MB uploads, custom vanity URL, animated banner.

What is the difference between a Discord boost and Nitro?

Discord Nitro is a subscription benefit for a personal user account. A server boost is a separate benefit that a member allocates toward a specific server. A server keeps its boost level only while it holds enough active boosts.

How many boosts are needed for Level 3?

Discord requires exactly 14 active boosts to reach Level 3, the highest standard server perk tier. Packages with more boosts, such as 35x, keep the server at Level 3 while providing extra headroom.
